The 2009 Marching Season is upon us! Beginning this Friday, our band will perform their show "Niagara Falls" during half time. They will play stands music and cheer on the MHS Football team as they play arch rivals Hillcrest.
Most of the band parents and mavbandfans sit together next to the band. Wear your shirts, support your marching mavs and enjoy the evening.
More info is upcoming!

Potluck and Show Preview Rescheduled
*** Dinner and a Show Rescheduled ***
Our band camp Grand Finale and Potluck Supper has been rescheduled for Thursday, August 20th. The band will practice from 4pm to 6pm then we will have our potluck dinner at 6pm. Immediately after dinner, The 2010 Mauldin High School Marching Mavs will perform this years' show entitled "Niagara Falls".
When you get here:
** 24th Tournament of Bands Volunteer Sign Ups **
There will be a signup table for this years' TOB. Many thanks to Jessica Mandujano for coordinating this event. Please make every effort to put your name down on one of the MANY opportunities that we have for you to participate.
** Portrait Pictures **
Dan Haas made section portraits for us that we will sell at the Potluck dinner on Thursday night. As you all know, Dan's work is excellent and his portraits usually sell out before dinner is through. So take the opportunity to purchase a portrait of your favorite marcher on Thursday. Cost is $10 for an 8x10 and $5 for a 5x7.

Mavband will reschedule the Potluck and Exhibition
Due to unfortunate circumstances last week, we had to postpone our Potluck Supper and Grand Finale Exhibition.
Sad as that is though, we now have a few more days to get excited about what the band is doing. The instructors and Mr. Scheuch have said repeatedly that this is the best behaved, best sounding and most cooperative bands that they have been a part of. I have seen this first hand in watching the kids this week as they interact with each other and the staff. I have been involved for over 8 years with the band, and I agree fully with the staff.
I had the opportunity to watch the band this band do their thing. The Color Guard are AWESOME. They bring the whole theme together and work well with the band. This year we have 26 color guard - all of whom are glad to be part of this group. The Pit and Drum line are tight and add a lot to the sound. Trumpets, Low Brass - including the 6 Susa's hold the bottom and middle really well while the winds add the ethereal sound to the top end.
Keep watching the website this week as we finalize the details of the Potluck and Grand Finale with the School Administration.

Week 2 Underway - New Media Pics online
Week 2 is underway and the Marching Mav's are practicing on their newly lined and mowed field. Thanks go to Mauldin Middle Band Director Jim Kilgus (for showing us how line the field perfectly) Travis Shippley, Richard Vance and to our 3 students who helped out when us "old folks" ran out of gas.
Today is portrait day and Media Team Member Dan Haas will be taking the portraits in the evening. We will sell these portraits at the Potluck on Friday nite.
Prices are:
$10 for an 8x10
$5 for a 5x7
This is an important fundraiser for our band, so please take the opportunity to get your favorite marchers portrait.
Pool Party and Band Camp Week 2 Pictures are also online. Go to see them at http://www.mavband.com/media.html
